Rito "Slim" Valdivia, Jr., 87, of Grantville, passed away on Oct 2, 2022, at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka. He was born May 16, 1935 in Topeka, KS to Rito and Leonila (Mata) Valdivia. He worked for Seymour Foods until the plant closed. He then worked for Vanguard Concrete until his retirement in 1995. In 1968, he married Bertha Hathaway in Oklahoma. They were married for 54 years and blessed with three children: Rose (Jeff) Winkler of Ottawa, Annette (Craig) Morris of Meriden, and Rito Valdivia III of Topeka.
Slim enjoyed fishing, farming, all of his animals, and sports. Slim loved his annual hayride for family and friends, but his greatest joy was his grandchildren: Matt (Natasha) Winkler, Ashley Winkler, Boston, Tyler, and Oakley Valdivia. He is survived by his wife (of the home), children, grandchildren, and siblings, Angel (Mary) Valdivia, Susan (John) Perez, Ray Valdivia, Monica (David) Matchett, Mary Ann (Carlos) Tejada, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by siblings, Herlinda Holmes, Angelina Valdivia, Victoria Campos, Maria Hazel Rocha, Guadalupe Chavez, Frances Hernandez, Lucy Martin, Carmen Torres, and Tony Valdivia.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, October 7, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Rosary will be prayed Thursday, October 6 at 5:00 p.m. at the church. Visitation will follow the Rosary from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. also at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady Guadalupe Catholic Church and left in care of the Davidson Funeral Home. davidsonfuneral.com
