Richard Wadleigh

Richard Wadleigh, Jr., 61, of Meriden, passed away Friday, July 26, 2024.

He was born May 22, 1963, in Utica, New York, the son of Richard and Frances (Leyden) Wadleigh, Sr.

He went to Topeka Public Schools. He had a Technical Degree in Drafting and Small Engine Repairs. He had an Associate’s Degree in Computer Science.

Richard was the mechanic and wrecker driver for the Topeka Police Department. He worked as a pest control technician many years for Schendel. He retired from the Kansas Department of Revenue where he was a computer programmer in January 2023.

He was very passionate about many interests in life, which include softball, riding his motorcycle, gardening, and traveling. His greatest passion of all was crafting with his pride and joy, granddaughter Aubrey.

Richard’s humor and sarcasm were highly contagious. Richard had a way of making anyone he met laugh. He wants his family to know that you should laugh through the tough times and it’s okay to be sad, but don’t be sad for long.

Richard married Carol Herring on December 22, 1984 in Topeka, KS. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include his daughter, Michelle (Brett) Oliver; granddaughter, Aubrey; siblings, Wendy (Jim) Cain, Marie (Norman) Foster, Elaine (Mark) Lehman of Iowa and numerous nieces and nephews and in-law’s.

He was preceded by his parents; sister, Deborah Sigman; nephew, Matthew Sigman and great-nephew, Christian Carter.

The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Parker-Price & Davidson, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka, KS 66608.

Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 2, 2024 at Parker-Price & Davidson. Burial to follow at Ozawkie Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to his beloved granddaughters college fund. Please make checks out to Edward Jones. In the memo line: " "Aubrey Oliver Education Fund". Checks can be mailed to: 2887 SW MacVicar Ave., Topeka, KS 66611.
