Richard J. Roy

November 10, 1944 — March 30, 2023

Richard J. (Daddy Do) Roy, 78, of Topeka, passed away on March 30, 2023 at his home.

He was born on November 10, 1944 to Leon and Germaine (Audet) Roy in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

Richard graduated from Portsmouth high school and attended Tulsa Junior College. He liked to work with his hands. He liked woodworking, building computers and several others, that he still took part in today. Later in life he became a bus driver.

Richard liked photography and enjoyed riding his Moto Guzzi in the earlier years. He was a night owl, so during his evenings he loved to listen to rock music and indulge in every movie imaginable. He was a sports enthusiast. He would watch and record every baseball game, basketball game, and football game. His favorite teams were, where ever Tom Brady was, the Boston Celtics, The Boston Red Sox, and slowly was becoming a Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City Chiefs fan. Richard also had quite the collection of stamps that he was proud of. Out of all of these hobbies and interests, Richard's favorite was spending time with his grandchildren. He was their biggest fan and supporter. His orneriness will be missed by all.

Richard is survived by his children, Richard Roy, Jr., David Roy, Joseph Roy, (Berry) Sharon (Guy) Jacobs, and (Daughter Do) Monique (Dion) Henderson; grandchildren, Daniel Jacobs, Karleigh Henderson, Jonathan Jacobs, Hannah Jacobs, Mary Jacobs, Addison Henderson, Shane Henderson, Mathew Jacobs, and Samuel Jacobs; and siblings, Doris Roy Grassie and George Roy.

Richard was preceded in death by his son, Brent Roy; and both of his parents.

Per Richard's request, cremation has taken place.
