Richard P. Feleay, 75, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014.
He was born Aug. 15, 1938 in Manhattan, KS, the son of Paul Franklin and Marjorie Eleanor (Howenstein) Feleay. He was a 1957 graduate of Bonner Springs High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force as an Airman First Class for 6 ½ years.
Mr. Feleay was employed by Topeka Public Schools as Director of Food Service for 29 years before retiring.
He was an active member of Seaman Congregational Church and Moose Lodge No. 555.
Richard married Linda Chandley on Sept. 1, 1961 in Bonner Springs, KS. She preceded him in death on May 12, 1985. He then married Beatrice K. "Bea" (Keating) Palmer in Meriden, KS. She preceded him in death on Oct. 21, 2013. Survivors include his children, Kelly Neiman (Dave), Kate Larison (Dusty), Kevin Feleay (Angie), all of Topeka, Kim Coover (Scott), Wilsey, KS, Kathy Palmer (Ken Hastert), Topeka; Mike Palmer (Wendy Montgomery), Bloomington, IL, Laurie Palmer, Topeka; his grandchildren, Matthew, Jeremy, Eric, Zac, Valory, Chance, Josh (Rachel), Jacob, Jeffrey, Drew, Sam, Lauren, Madison, Jayden; and great granddaughters, Summer and Stormie; his brother, Jim Feleay (Dannetta) of Des Moines, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; and beloved four legged companion, Missy. He was preceded in death by his parents and a step-son, David Palmer.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, May 23, 2014 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka. A celebration of life service will be 1 p.m., Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Seaman Congregational Church, 2036 NW Taylor in Topeka, KS 66608. Private interment of his cremated remains will be at the Meriden Cemetery, Meriden, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to Seaman Congregational Church.
