Richard E. Long, 88, Topeka formerly of St. Joseph, MO passed away, Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at Rossville Valley Manor. He was born Nov. 5, 1916 in Kansas City, KS the son of Robert and Anna Goodwin Long.
He graduated from Christian Brothers High School of St. Joseph in 1935. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II where he was awarded with three Bronze Stars for Germany Campaign, Normandy Campaign and Northern France. Richard worked as a Laborer for the Pearl Brewery in St. Joseph.
He married Mary Elizabeth Lawless June 23, 1945 in St. Joseph, MO she passed away Dec. 22, 1983.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Moore and her husband Charles, Topeka, KS; Patty Harlow and her husband Kenny, Overland Park, KS; four grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
cremation is planned the family will have private memorial services at a later date.
Inurnment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in St. Joseph, MO.
