Richard "Dick" D. Weller

July 9, 1932 — December 29, 2019

Richard “Dick” D. Weller, age 87 of Topeka, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2019 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. Dick was born July 9, 1932 in Topeka, KS the son of Harold and Kay (Cronister) Weller. He grew up in Topeka, graduating from Highland Park High School and then Washburn University. He served in the U.S. Army during Korea. He married Rita Phelon, they later divorced. He then married Janet K. Kotapish October 14, 1961. She preceded him in death February 12, 2016. Dick worked for the State of Kansas and then in medical sales for many years. He refereed for TOA for high school and college basketball and football for over 30 years. He enjoyed landscaping and yard work but his real passion was golf. He participated for many KGA and TGA golf events for his entire career.   He enjoyed playing at Cedar Crest/Somerset Golf Course.

He is survived by three sons; Brad Jennings of Topeka, Scot (Sheryl) Weller of Wichita; Ty (Nicole) Weller of Savannah, Georgia; two daughters, Kim Jennings of Topeka and Tammy Weller of Winfield, KS; two brothers, Tom Weller of Weston, Wisconsin and Jack Weller of Roseburg, OR; and five grandchildren.

Memorial services will be Thursday, January 9, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Washburn University Athletics and sent in care of the Davidson Funeral Home. davidsonfuneral.com.
