Richard Dean "Rich" McNamara, 46, of Burlingame, formerly of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2015 after a 14 month battle with bile duct cancer.
He was born September 30, 1968 in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Richard Thomas and Melba Darlene (Burk) McNamara. He was a 1988 graduate of Seaman High School.
Richard owned and operated Overbrook Construction and was later employed by Castlewood Construction Topeka.
Rich married Elizabeth H. "Liz" Wall on October 20, 1990 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include five children, Danielle (Trevor) Morrison, Topeka, Brandon, Kyle, Chelsea and Tyler McNamara; a grandson, Jayce Dean Morrison, all of Topeka; his parents, Richard and Melba McNamara, Burlingame, KS; a sister, Darlene (Larry) Brunick, Eudora, KS; and several nieces and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph McNamara.
Rich was an avid fisherman and hunter. He attended several fishing tournaments, including U.S. Cats Fishing Tournaments and also enjoyed cooking and barbequing.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 p.m., Monday, July 6, 2015 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 227 SW Van Buren St., Topeka. Cremation will follow the mass.
Richard will lie in state after 3 p.m., Sunday at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 6:30-8 p.m.
