Rev. Floyd M. Nolin, Jr., 92, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2018.
He was born August 26, 1926, in Parker, Kansas, the son of Floyd and Bertha Nolin.
Floyd graduated from Parker High School in 1944. He then went on to earn his Bachelor's degree from Baker University. After graduating from Baker, he attended SMU Perkins, School of Theology in Dallas, TX.
He served in the Navy from 1944 to 1946, as a forward fire controller aboard USS Washington (BB 56).
He was a United Methodist Minister in California and Kansas for nearly fifty years. He was a member of the Crestview United Methodist Church, of Topeka. He served the following churches in Kansas:
1963 Circleville; 1966 Wathena-Elwood; 1969 Holton: First; 1972 Topeka: Kansas Avenue; 1977 Columbus-Bethlehem; 1980 Kansas City: Wyandotte; 1983 Tonganoxie; 1988 Topeka: Oakland; 93 Retired; 95 Mayetta-Pottawatomie; retired again 2004.
Floyd married Polly Jo Nolin on September 16, 1965, in Topeka. She preceded him in death on November 14, 2012. On October 17, 2015, he married Julie Diane McCullough. She survives. Other survivors include children: Michael Nolin of Santa Barbara CA, Susanne Nolin of Peabody, KS, Floyd M. "Mart" Nolin III (Lana) of LaRue, TX. Beloved step-children: Rafalla J. Respress of Seymour, MO, Michael L. Green (Juna) of Topeka, KS, Jane L. Mawdsley (Bill) of Topeka, KS; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and numerous great-grand Doggers.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Floyd immensely enjoyed building furniture and fishing when he could get away.
Rev. Floyd will lie in state after 4:00 p.m. Sunday, October 28 at Parker-Price Funeral Home, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 29 at Susanna Wesley United Methodist Church. Private Interment will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery, 17th and Fairlawn, Topeka.
