Rev. Donald L. Callaway 88 of Topeka passed away on Friday evening April 12, 2024. He was born March 22, 1936 at Norton, Kansas the son of Fred and Grace Shewmake Callaway. Donald was reared in the Norton community and graduated from Norton Community High School.
He served in the United States Army.
At the age of 23, Donald accepted the Lord as his Savior. He was bi-vocational, he was a linotype operator for the Topeka Capital Journal and Standard-Hart Printing. He retired from that occupation.
Rev. Callaway attended Bible College in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He then went on to transfer his credentials to the Church of God Holiness. Don entered the ministry. He is an ordained minister of the Church of God (Holiness). He served as Associate Pastor of the Topeka Church of God (Holiness), Topeka for over 47 years and Senior Pastor of that church 13 years, for a total of 60 years until his health declined.
He was also a member of Papan's Landing Senior Center in North Topeka.
He Married Patricia Jacobs on December 20, 1959.
Survivors include his son, Donald D. Callaway (Jenifer) of Rose Hill, Kansas and daughter Sherry Chapman (Charles); two sisters, Marie Schwerin, Betty Tendrich, ten grandchildren 15 great grandchildren.
Rev. Callaway was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Callaway in 2022; his parents; an infant sister, Joyce and sister Maxine White, brother, Frank, Sister, Ruth Shotsman.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Parker-Price & Davidson Cremation and Funeral. The family will receive friends beginning at Noon on Wednesday until the service hour. Military Honors and interment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Rev. Callaway's service will be livestreamed at the scheduled service time.
