Regina Rose Keehn, 89, Topeka, died Monday, January 20th, at home surrounded by family. She was born July 15, 1924, on a farm near Summerfield, KS, the daughter of Patrick and Cecilia (Schmidt) Welch. Regina attended Emporia State Teachers College and taught school prior to becoming Robert's wife and lifelong partner in 1945. She worked in the produce business she and Robert owned for many years, finishing her employment career at Jostens Yearbook.
She was a member of Mother Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church and had been a long-time member of Assumption Catholic Church. Preceding Regina in death was her beloved husband of 61 years, Robert; a daughter Mary Ellen (Russell) Fulkerson; a granddaughter Marissa Keehn; a sister Patricia Braden; and brothers Donald, Patrick, Martin, Maurice, and Cecil. Surviving is daughter: Rose (Paul) Williams of Hoyt; and 7 sons: Robert (Phyllis) Keehn, Jr. of Holton, Steven Keehn of Springfield, Missouri, Ronald (Louann) Keehn of Prairie Village, William (Sue) Keehn of Perry, James (Debbie) Keehn of Wichita, Joseph (Kathy) Keehn of Shawnee, and Gerald Keehn of Topeka; 40 grandchildren; 96 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers: John, Merle, Claude, Lillis, Lauren, and Elwyn.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, January 24th, at Mother Theresa of Calcutta, Topeka. Interment will be in St. Josephs Catholic Cemetery, Hoyt. Regina will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Thursday. at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel where a Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM and the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 PM.
