OBITUARY; Raymond A. Westbrook

Raymond A. Westbrook, 70, of Meriden died Friday, May 13, 2005 in Topeka. He was born June 2, 1934 in Topeka the son of Ray R. and Viola Pearson Westbrook. He grew up in Meriden and later lived in Rossville and Topeka before returning to Meriden in 1973.

After graduation from Meriden High School Mr. Westbrook served in the Reserves and on active duty in the United State Navy. He worked 39 1/2 years for KPL before retiring in 1992. Mr. Westbrook was a member of Oakland Church of the Nazarene, the American Legion, and the Eagles Lodge.

He married Mildred I. "Millie" Sherretts on April 4, 1958 at Meriden, KS. She preceded him in death. A son, Douglas R. Westbrook, also preceded him in death.

Surviving are a daughter: Lisa Renbarger and husband, Larry of Topeka; a brother, Cecil Westbrook of Georgia; a sister, Julia "Judy" Hasty of Ozawkie; and two grandsons.

Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at Meriden Cemetery. Mr. Westbrook will lie in state after 3:00 p.m., Monday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 N.W. Independence, Topeka where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday.
