OBITUARY: Raymond Joseph Kalcik
Raymond Joseph Kalcik, 85, Silver Lake, died Tues., April 15, 2008, at Lexington Park. He was born north of Silver Lake to Joseph and Carrie (Slansky) Kalcik. He graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1942. On Aug. 25, 1951, he married Betty Webb in Topeka. She survives of the home. They resided west of Hoyt for 52 years where he was a farmer/stockman and sold DeKalb Seed. They moved to Silver Lake in 2004.
He was a member of the Silver Lake United Methodist Church, Grove Harvest Grange, Silver Lake XYZ Group, Hoyt Seniors, and a former member and leader of Grove 4-H.
Surviving in addition to his wife are 4 children: Elaine Sheldon of Pawnee City, NE, Russell (Glenda) Kalcik of Silver Lake, Diane (Dennis) Morrison of Moundridge, and Kathy (John) Kinsch of Topeka; sister: Marjorie (Ed) Bergmann of Vermillion; sister-in-law: Georgina Webb of Topeka; 8 grandchildren: Jeff Sheldon of Lincoln, NE, Erin Sheldon of Nankoku, Japan, Travis Kalcik of Topeka, Mallory Kalcik of Topeka; Michelle and Matthew Morrison of Moundridge, and Jake and Adam Kinsch of Topeka; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister: Viola Hoover; and brother: Herbert Kalcik.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 PM, Sat., April 19, 2008, at Silver Lake United Methodist Church. Cremation will follow with private interment of cremains in Walnut Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Raymond Kalcik Memorial Fund, c/o Silver Lake Bank to be designated at a later date or the organization of the donor's choice. Raymond will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Friday, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
