Raymond E. Ireland, Sr., 78, of Topeka, passed away Monday, November 7, 2016.
He was born May 19, 1938, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Charles and Alice Marie (Davis) Ireland.
Raymond was employed by Suttons Grocery over 20 years and later worked for Aldersgate Village for 15 years, before retiring.

Raymond married Judy Gunkle on January 22, 1968. They later divorced. Survivors include five children, James (Megan) Essary, Topeka, Colleen (Russell) Haddon, Canfield, OH, Liz "Jamie" Ireland, Topeka, Darlene (John) Morgan, Topeka, Raymond Ireland, Jr., Topeka; and 11 grandchildren, Dawson, Austin, Briana, Cameron, Katelyn, Kristen, Jack, Jaymes, Dallas, Damein and Heaven.

He was preceded in death by his father; his mother, Alice Sturm; and seven siblings: Earl Ireland, Mildred Dominguez, Margie Seaboldt, Ruth Irish, Bessie Flowers, William Ireland, and Carl Ireland.

Raymond enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.

A funeral ceremony will be 1 p.m., Monday, November 14, 2016 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka. Interment will follow at Rochester Cemetery, Topeka. Raymond will lie in state after 1 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 4-5 p.m.
