Raymond Hill Beamer Jr.
VALLEY FALLS ~ Raymond Hill Beamer Jr., 85, Valley Falls, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, at a nursing home in Winchester. He was born Dec. 24, 1917, in Hallowell, to Raymond H. and Lucy M. Dunbar Beamer. Mr. Beamer moved to Lawrence and graduated from Lawrence High School. He joined the U.S. Army and served in World War II as a machine gunner. He was stationed at Scholefield Barracks in Hawaii at the time of the Pearl Harbor Attack. He later was stationed in France and Germany. He returned to Topeka and became a licensed electrician with IBEW Local No. 226 until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of the Gem and Mineral Society and the Woodcarvers Club. He also was a member of Berryton United Methodist Church. He married Eleanor Mae Reilly in 1943. She died in 1961. He married Ann Smith in 1965. She died in 1986. He married Naomi R. Plemons in Berryton on Sept. 11, 1987. She survives, of the home. Other survivors include two daughters, Beth Deakins, Fort Collins, Colo., and Gwen Blakely, Topeka; a son, Raymond Beamer III, Fort Worth, Texas; three stepdaughters, Barbara Westbrook, Judy Shipley and Pam Plemons, all of Valley Falls; a stepson, Tom Plemons, Topeka; a sister, Imogene Penner, Lenexa; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Parker-Price Chapel. Military graveside honors will be conducted by a funeral detail from Fort Riley at Memorial Park Cemetery. Raymond Beamer will lie in state at Parker-Price Mortuary after 3 p.m. Tuesday, where family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to District No. 11 Ambulance service, 204 Louise, Valley Falls, 66088, Jefferson County Geriatric Center, 408 Delaware, Winchester, 66097 or to Berryton United Methodist Church, P.O.
