Raymond L. Flowers passed away April 5, 2023 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, KS. He was born December 7, 1948 in Topeka, the son of Harvey and Mary (Creek) Flowers. He was the 3rd of 11 children.
Raymond lived his entire life in Topeka. He was very proud of his athletic ability at Curtis Junior High in tumbling, football, and track. He graduated from Topeka High School. He worked over 35 years at the same grain elevator, which ultimately became Cargill, Inc. from where he retired as a foreman.
He married Patricia Pence on June 1, 1967 and they had 2 children, Shelly and Rodney.
Raymond enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, camping, boating, bowling, and watching Kansas sports teams. He was an expert welder and spent many hours tinkering in the garage. Raymond also enjoyed traveling and covered the entire length of I-70 on driving trips with his family. He especially loved trips that included scenic waterways.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Patricia (Pence), daughter Shelly (William) Bartron of Topeka, son Rodney (Tami) Flowers of Kansas City, MO, brothers Aldred (Jo), Michael (Kathi), John (Denise), sisters Sandra Flowers and Cheryl Johnson, 3 step-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Aaron, James, Harold, and sisters Mary Morgan and Patricia Bigelow.
Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at the Parker-Price Funeral Home, 245 NW Independence, Topeka, KS 66608, at 6:00 pm on Thursday, April 13, 2023, followed by a memorial service at 7:00 pm. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stormont-Vail Auxiliary. The family is very appreciative of the great care Raymond received during his time in the critical care unit at Stormont-Vail Hospital.
