Ray C. Spencer, 86, of Topeka, passed away, Thursday, December 8, 2005 at Midland Hospice House.
He was born July 13, 1919 in Logan County, Oklahoma the son of Elmer and Esther Boucher Spencer.
Ray was a military veteran serving in the United States Navy during World War II.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Topeka Consistory Scottish Rite.
He was an avid fisherman and woodcrafter.
He married Viola M. Higbee in 1945. She preceded him in death November 15, 1974.
He later married Edna Carr July 30, 1976. She preceded him in death March 27, 2005.
Survivors include two daughters: Shirley West, Valley Center and Deveina "Dee" Falk, Topeka; three sons: Larry McAmis, Everett, WA, Ray Spencer, Jr., Topeka, and Mike Spencer, Topeka; one sister, Charlotte Hawkins, Wichita, KS; one brother, Marvin Fitzwater, Florida: 31 grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 10:00a.m., Monday December 12, 2005 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Half Day Cemetery.
Mr. Spencer will lie in state from 12:00 noon until 5:00 p.m. Saturday and after 10:00 a.m. Sunday at the Penwell-Gabel Parker Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday.
