Randy W. Rahberg

November 10, 1949 — August 12, 2023

Randy W. Rahberg, 73, of Topeka, passed away on August 12, 2023 at his home.

Randy was born on November 10, 1949 to Edward W. and Carol L. (Bowlin) Rahberg at Topeka, Kansas.
He was a graduate of Topeka West High School, class of 1967. After graduating he attended Washburn University and graduated in 1971 with his Bachelors of Business Administration.

Randy had many jobs throughout his lifetime, mowing yards, numerous labor jobs, delivery driver and warehouseman positions. He worked for the State of Kansas in different departments, but the one he held last was a Information Resource Specialist II where he acted as a network administrator and technical support. After working for the state for over 40 years, he retired. He was a lifetime member of Delta Sigma Pi, a professional business fraternity, the Delta Chi chapter of Washburn University. Randy was a faithful volunteer for the Valley Vista Meat Locker, now known as Farview Farms Meat Company. He also very much enjoyed assisting the Hispanic community in translating orders for meat. Randy was a 3rd degree Mason, Orient Lodge #51 AF&AM in Topeka. He also was very involved with several automobile clubs locally, such as the Topeka Region AACA (Antique Automobile Club of America) and was the founding member and President of the Golden Spokes Antique Car Club. He held other memberships in his years such as, the Stumpjumpers Ski Club (held offices of President and Historian), the local Moose Lodge, and the Kansas Prairie Pickers Association. He also was a certified Kansas Safe Hunter instructor, certified storm spotter, and was certified in CPR for many years. To say the least, he was very active and involved in all he did.

His greatest passion was music. In high school he was a member of The Noblemen, a "garage band" that played pop-rock from 1965-1967 where he played the guitar and sang. Randy also performed in the Elmont Opry, Cow Creek Opry, and the Elk Creek Opry for many years. He even started his own bluegrass band with his best friends called Legacy Bluegrass Band, where they have proudly been playing together since 1980. He played the 5-string banjo and did vocals, and occasionally played guitar, fiddle, washboard, harmonica, bones, piano, and drums. Randy was also an avid hunter, hunting pheasant, quail, geese, doves, and deer. He loved nature and being in the outdoors, and occasionally casting a line in a creek or setting trotlines.

Randy married Kristine Keltner in 1970 and together they had two children. They later divorced in 1984.
He then began a new journey on July 3, 2004 with Karen Ann Boeckman King. Their relationship grew and they soon were engaged on October 24, 2004. They married on July 30, 2005 where they beautifully blended their families.

Randy is survived by his loving wife, Karen; children, Tracy (Aaron) Atkins, Adam (Andrea) Rahberg, Eric King, Brian (Audrey) King, and Amy (Will) Kolterman; grandchildren, Corbin and Aden Atkins, Landon and Kellen Rahberg, Corbin, Gavin, Ryder, and Mattie Kolterman, Addison, Briggam, and Canton King; sister, Dixie (Richard) Brennan; nephews, Ryan and Nicholas Brennan; and a host of extended family members.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents.
