Ralph Eugene Seckinger, 99, of Topeka died Friday morning, Dec. 10, 2004 at Lexington Park Nursing Care Facility, Topeka. He was born July 18, 1905 at Edgerton, KS the son of Eugene Joseph and Vanila Annette (McMillan) Seckinger.
Mr. Seckinger moved to Topeka in 1932. He was a welder for the Union Pacific Railroad for 46 years before retiring 34 years ago.
He was married to Chelsea B. Mathia on May 7, 1922 at Raytown, MO. His wife of 81 years preceded him in death on Aug. 1, 2003. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Alan Senogles, and a great-grandson, Scott Nevilles II.
Surviving are a son: Bobby Seckinger of Topeka; five daughters: Ethel Thompson, Vida Wells, Opal Senogles, Treva Jean Frisbie, and Cherlyn Seckinger, all of Topeka; a brother: Duane Seckinger of Burney, CA; a sister: Ethel Meek of Burney, CA; 17 grand-children; 35 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tues., Dec. 14, 2004 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 N.W. Independence. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka.
Mr. Seckinger will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice Care, 200 S.W. Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606-2800.
