Ralph C. Lowe, 89, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at home.
He was born March 6, 1919, in Lancaster, KS, the son of Bert Edwin and Grace Anna (Lupold) Lowe. He was a 1938 graduate of Washburn Rural High School. He served in the United States Navy as a fireman, First Class during WW II. He was employed by Santa Fe Railroad in Topeka for 39 years before retiring.
He was a member of the West Side Baptist Church, Golden Rule Lodge No. 90 A.F.&A.M., and a charter member of the Square and Compass Club. He was also a member of the Santa Fe Oldtimers, American Legion Capitol Post No. 1, and Topeka Horse Shoe Club.
Ralph married Lorraine Herndon on July 28, 1940 in Topeka. She preceded him in death on April 14, 2002. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Burt Clifford Lowe. Survivors include his children, Lorraine R. Girardot of Del City, OK, Claudia Kilpatrick, Ozawkie, KS, David M. Lowe of Topeka, and Tim Lowe of, Ozawkie, KS; his sister, Maxine Kimble of Joplin, MO; his half-sister, Lou Anna Lowe of Topeka, KS; his half-brother, James Lowe of Topeka; 13 grandchildren;17 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 28, 2008 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence. Masonic services conducted by Golden Rule Lodge #90 A.F.&A.M. Mr. Lowe will lie in state after 3 p.m., Friday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Interment with military honors will be at West Lawn Memorial Gardens, Topeka.
