Philip H. Runkle

Philip “Phil” H. Runkle, age 93, of Silver Lake, KS passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at the Presbyterian Manor in Topeka of old age. Phil was born November 15, 1928 in North Topeka the son of Clarence and Maude (Hainsworth) Runkle. He graduated from Silver Lake High School. He served in the U.S. Army with the 3rd Division of the Army Combat Engineers in Korea. He worked for Santa Fe Railroad and retired from DuPont after 26 years. He belonged to the American Legion in Silver Lake. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and watching NASCAR. Phil was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Jack and Dayle Runkle; a nephew, Jerry Runkle; and his partner in life of over 50 years, Issie Bowers. He is survived by a nephew, three nieces and many great nieces and nephews. Phil’s wishes were to be cremated. No services are planned.
