Peter Torrez Segura

Peter Torrez Segura passed away on November 22 ^nd , 2022, in Topeka, Kansas.  Pete was born in Topeka, Kansas on June 29 ^th , 1941, the youngest child of Juan and Antonia Segura.

Pete is preceded in death by both of his parents; his brothers John Segura Jr. and Henry Segura; his sisters Romona S. Alvares, Rita S. Charay, and Carolina S. Hernandez; and a son, Gene Starr of Atlanta, Georgia.  He is survived by his best friend and girlfriend Christine McElhaney, daughters Yvette Segura of Topeka, Terri Brewer (Billy) of Memphis, Tennessee and Sarah Persinger of Mayetta, Kansas as well as many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Pete was mechanically inclined and worked in this capacity for the State of Kansas and St. Francis Hospital.  He was also the head cook at Golden Nugget Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada where he met and cooked several meals for Frank Sinatra.  Before retiring, Pete was a self-employed mechanic.

Pete was charming, kind, and funny.  He was a good cook and enjoyed working on engines.  He and Chris enjoyed going for drives, playing at the casino, and having breakfast at their favorite diner.  Pete will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Graveside Services will be Wednesday, November 30 ^th, 2022, at 1:30 p.m. at Mount Calvary Cemetery with interment to follow.  Afterward, friends and family are invited to Tammy’s Billiard Airport Restaurant at 3600 NE Sardou Ave for a private gathering.
