Peggy Jo McGilton, 73, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2017.
She was born October 8, 1943in Emporia, the daughter of Olin W. and Annietta Griffin . She was a graduate of Seaman High School.
Peggy was employed by Knights National Painting Company and the Kansas Legislature.
She was a member of the Midwest Hemophilia Association and the Committee of 10,000.
Peggy married Henry McGilton on February 14, 1992. He survives. Other survivors include children Jo Lorson (Bill), Paula Bond, Jon Rayls (Judy), Kathy Holscher (Clyde), Joy McGilton and Sue McGilton; grandchildren Zachary Spielman, Quincy Rayls, Graham Bond, Cooper Lorson, Chelsea Taylor, Russell Lorson, Justin McGilton, Mindy Turner, Megan Dunmire, Brian Holscher, Amy Hugo; five sisters, Marilyn Bower, Judy Atkins (Don), Jeana White (Darrell), Jill Renner (Allan), Ardith Griffin and 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her late husband, James E, Rayls and sons, James P. "Pat" Rayls and Larry P. McGilton and brother, William "Bill" Griffin.
Peggy enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was very interested in politics and was a champion for hemophilia issues.
A funeral ceremony will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the Topeka Bible Church, 1101 SW. Mulvane, Topeka. Interment will follow at the Rochester Cemetery. Peggy will lie in state after 3 p.m., Friday, April 28 at Penwell-Gabel Parker Price Chapel, 245 NW. Independence, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m.
