Peggy L. (Martin) Damme, 79, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2014 surrounded by her family. She was born May 31, 1935, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Raymond and Myrtle (Ladner) Martin. She attended Topeka Public Schools.
Peggy worked in and around Topeka, including Topeka Tent and Awning for many years, Kansas Health Department and retired in 1997 from St. Francis Hospital in Topeka.
Peggy loved being around people and also liked to garden, especially flowers. She also enjoyed bowling in various Topeka bowling leagues. By far, though, Peggy was most proud of her family.
Peggy married Kenneth Johnson in 1952 and later divorced. She married Ronald Bowlin in 1955. He preceded her in death in 1978. She married Gerald E. Damme on February 3, 1997 in Topeka. He survives of the home. Other survivors include ten children, Kenneth (Irene) Johnson, Topeka; Becky (Gary) Wedemeier, Westgate, IA; Barbara Hrabik, Topeka; Ronald "Lyle" (Paula) Bowlin, Baldwin City; Martin (Shannon) Bowlin, Auburn; Raymond (Jo) Bowlin, Cedar Creek, MO; Tim (Wendy) Bowlin, Lawrence; Rickey (April) Bowlin, Kansas City, KS; David (Denise) Damme, Topeka; Doug Damme, Topeka; 29 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Mike (Diana) Martin and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Dale M. Martin.
Honoring her request, Peggy was cremated. A memorial ceremony will be 4 p.m., Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
