Peggy J Downs

Peggy J. Downs, 84, of Topeka passed away on May 14 ^th , 2023. Peggy was born on May 30 ^th , 1938 in Big Springs, Kansas to William & Mary (Baker) Shane.

Peggy married Robert Downs on December 17 ^th , 1958. He precedes her in passing. Peggy is survived by her five children, Connie (Mike) Young; Billy (Lisa) Downs; Mary K. Fillmore; Terry (Butch) Stauffer; and Daron (Kathy) Downs. She is also survived by 8 Grandchildren and numerous Great-Grandchildren and Great-Great-Grandchildren. Her teacup poodle, PJ survives.

Preceding Peggy in passing is her granddaughter, Keisha McCracken and her siblings.

Peggy was a devout Christian for over 60 years. She was currently attending Lighthouse on the Rock Church. She also enjoyed crafting, garage sales, sales, auctions, antiques. Peggy enjoyed fundraising for her church, at one point she earned the name “Peanut Brittle Lady” for her sales of her homemade peanut brittle.

Visitation will take place from 5-7pm on Wednesday, May 17 ^th at Davidson Funeral Home, 1035 N Kansas Avenue. A Funeral Service will be held at Davidson Funeral Home on Thursday, May 18 ^th , at 1pm. Burial will follow at Topeka Cemetery. Memorial Contributions can be made to Midland Hospice House or Lighthouse on the Rock Christian Church.
