Paul R. Mason

March 18, 1946 — February 11, 2021

Paul Mason, age 74, entered his heavenly home on February 11, 2021, at the University of Kansas St. Francis Hospital in Topeka, KS.

Paul was born March 18, 1946, to late parents Cleon and Mary Mason (Lesser) in Topeka, KS.  He graduated from Seaman High School in 1965.  He married Rhoda Howells on March 22, 1969, at Grace Baptist Church in Austin, MN. Paul worked at several schools, with Seaman USD 345 (1971 to 1979) and USD 501 (1979 to 2006), where he worked for 35 years.

Paul attended Omaha Baptist Bible College where he met his wife Rhoda.  He also attended Topeka Technical College where he received a drafting degree.

Paul loved to drive around Topeka with Rhoda and go to garage sales.  He had an excellent work ethic and was an example to those who knew him.  He talked to people wherever he went and left a smile on their face.

Paul is survived by his wife Rhoda Mason (Howells); his three children, Matthew Mason (Wife, Cindy), Dave Mason, and Joy Bennett; his grandchildren Christian Book (Fiancee, Allison), Abi, and Caleb; his brother Mark Mason (Wife, Sharon), his brothers-in-law Steve (Wife, Ellen) and Mark (Wife, Jan) Howells; nieces and nephews Bill Mason, Susan Yoder (Husband, Chip) and Dan Mason; great niece and nephew Hannah and Clinton; and several cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Cleon and Mary Mason (Lesser), his father and mother-in-law, Lloyd Donald and Ruthjune Howells.

The family would like to thank the staff at DaVita Dialysis for their care for the last eight years and at St. Francis for their loving and compassionate care during Paul’s final days.

A private family funeral will be Saturday, February 13, 2021 at the Davidson Funeral Home.  Private interment will be at the Rochester Cemetery.

Due to floral allergies, the family requests no flowers be given. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the University of Kansas, St. Francis Campus Oncology Department or Faith Baptist Bible College and Theological Seminary and left in care of the Davidson Funeral Home.
