Paul L. Oldham

Paul L. Oldham, 84, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at Midland Hospice House.

He was born August 3, 1925 in Auburn, KS, the son of George T. and Hannah E. (Ransdell) Oldham. They moved to Topeka shortly after and he lived the rest of his life in Topeka. He attended Topeka Schools. He served in the U.S. Navy Air Land Squadron from Sept. 1943 to May 1946 serving in the South Pacific during WW II.

Paul drove a dump truck for 42 years in and around Topeka. In 1988 he retired from Andrews Construction Company.

He was a member of American Legion Post No. 400.

He enjoyed fishing, going to car races and traveling in his motor home.

Paul married Treva Wilson Landis in 1978. She survives. Other survivors include a sister, Georgia Lee Bennett (David); niece, Marcia Glascock (John), all of Little Rock, AR; nephew, Rex Bennett (Pam), Queen Valley, AZ; two step-sons, Michael D. Landis (Rhonda), Osage Beach, MO, Chuck Landis (Annie), Oskaloosa, KS and three grandchildren, Chris Kobuszewski (Joshua), Topeka, Shane Landis (Ashley) Osage Beach, MO, Joe Landis and children of Wichita, KS.

Mr. Oldham was cremated. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m., Friday August 14, 2009 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka Memorial services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, August 15, 2009 at the funeral home. Inurnment with military honors conducted by American Legion Post No. 400 will follow at Silver Lake Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Care Hospice, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
