Paul L. Hammond

October 13, 1939 — July 20, 2024

Paul L. Hammond, 84, of Topeka passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024. Paul was born on October 13, 1939 in Emporia, Kansas, the son of Leonard W. and Dorothy Riddle Hammond. After retirement he delivered Meals on Wheels.

Paul married the love of his life, Beverly Skinner, on June 5, 1960, in Topeka. Together, they lovingly raised their daughter Suzanne, and were best friends to each other for 64 years. Paul cherished, above all, his family and extended family. Everyone who had the privilege of loving or knowing Paul will miss his kindness, humility, and the calming presence he gave to everyone he met.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly Hammond of Topeka; daughter Suzanne Shandy and husband Steve; grandchildren, Luke Shandy, Miranda Moland; great-granddaughter, Thea Moland; brother, Phillip Hammond and wife Connie; brother-in-law Richard Skinner and wife Tamara; sister-in-law, Linda Skinner; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Patsy Dodds; nephew, Douglas Dodds; and brother-in-law, “Jerry” Skinner.

A memorial service will be held at Parker-Price and Davidson Funerals and Cremations on 10:00 am on Friday, July 26, 2024, with Steve Shandy officiating. A funeral procession to Rochester Cemetery will follow the service. You may leave the family a message at www.ppdfuneral.com.
