Patsy J. Hodges

Patsy J. Hodges, age 91, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, October 3, 2020 at the Homestead of Auburn.  Patsy was born June 8, 1929 at Loma Linda, California the daughter of Daniel and Stella (Bennett) Smith.  Patsy graduated from high school in California and went on to attend the Bible Standard Institute in Eugene, Oregon, where she met and later married Terry Hodges on July 29, 1950 in Lodi, California.  Patsy was a member of Dover Federated Church, where Terry had previously done interim pastoring on several occasions.  As a pastor’s wife, she naturally ministered in many capacities alongside Terry and touched many lives. She was a member of the Dover Federated Church, the Dover Card Club, and the Audubon Society in Topeka. Later, she worked as a legal secretary for the Kansas Association of School Boards—a job she thoroughly enjoyed up till the day she retired. She was a skilled pianist and taught piano for years, but her real passions were birdwatching, watercolor painting, and spending time with her family and friends.  But most of all she loved her Lord, and she was very ready to be with Him after her health began to fail.  She will be greatly missed by many, especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren—all of whom look forward to seeing her again one day.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Terry March 19, 1985; a grandson, Chase Hodges February 26, 2007 and a sister, Barbara Hanson in 1976.  She is survived by three sons, Stephen (Olinda) Hodges of Santa Fe, New Mexico, David (Brenda) Hodges of Richmond, Texas and Lance (Rita) Hodges of Topeka; a daughter, Kathy Hodges of Red Oak, Texas; a brother Larey Smith of Lodi, California; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday, October 8, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Dover Federated Church.  She will lie in state Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home.  Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Dover Federated Church.  Interment will be at the Dover Cemetery.  Memorial contribution may be made to God’s Storehouse and sent in care of the Davidson Funeral Home.  davidsonfuneral.com.
