Patricia A. Hogan, 68, of Silver Lake, Kansas, passed away in her home on February 3, 2024. She was born January 28, 1956 in Topeka, the daughter of Patrick Eugene Hogan and Marjora Jean Puffer. She was raised in Topeka and attended Most Pure Heart where she first aspired to be a nun. Later the Family moved to North Topeka where Patti attended Logan Junior High and Seaman High School and graduated with the class of 1974. Growing up and after attending high school she worked a lot, first at her father's store, Hogan Hardware. Patti had her first job with her sister after they graduated, driving grain trucks to the elevator in Rossville. Patti was known for a great game of pool and as an amazing first baseman and could always be found with friends fishing and camping and holding a Coors Light.
Patti always brought her large heart to her work as a nursing tech at Stormont-Vail and St. Francis Hospitals. Later she would take her families' talents to work at Roach Hardware store at 21st and Washburn. After her career Patti enjoyed taking care of other people. She enjoyed many crafts, often giving her creations away to family and friends. With her big heart, she enjoyed cooking for family at the holidays, and she was excellent at remembering birthdays, always sending out cards, gift giving and singing happy birthday. Patti took on the job of decorating for her parents at all the holidays, so they had a festive surrounding for every season. She enjoyed gardening and taking care of her plants and flowers. She was also an avid shopper and great at finding deals and thrifts. Spending time with her grandchildren was very important, rock hunting and taking silly selfies were a Nana specialty. Most of all she enjoyed camping and fishing; one of Patti's favorite spots was the State Lake and of course she spent many years at Lake Wabaunsee. Patti was extremely proud of her children, and all the life she shared with them.
Survivors include her parents Patrick 'Pat' Hogan and Marjora 'Jean' Puffer both of Topeka; sons, Matt Burghart of Fort Garland, Colorado and Jacob Urton and wife Samantha of Wakarusa, Kansas; grandchildren, Emryia, Ethan, Savannah, Taylor, Paxton and Treytin; her longtime partner Steve Casto of Silver Lake, Kansas; her sister; Peggy Hatfield of Scranton, Kansas; 2 nieces, a great niece, and 2 great nephews; and many extended family and friends.
