Pamela Sue "Pam" Gorley, 54, of Silver Lake, passed away Friday, December 18, 2015.
She was born May 28, 1961 in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Gary B. and Betty M. (Shaw) Piper. She was a 1979 graduate of Shawnee Heights High School, attended Washburn University and received a degree in medical records from Highland Community College in 1991.
Pam was employed by Stormont-Vail Hospital in Medical Records.
She was a member of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Church, Releave Society and Visiting Teachers in Topeka.
Pam is survived by her daughter, Katie (James) Garner, Eagle Mountain, UT and son, Phillip Gorley, Sparks, NV; a grandson, Shane Garner; her mother, Betty (Larry) May, Hoyt; her step mother, Maxine Piper, Burnett, TX; her paternal grandmother, Dorothy Piper, Eudora, KS; her sister, Kathy (Ivan) Frye, Perry, KS; two nieces; four nephews; and 16 great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father; her maternal grandparents, Jesse and Agnes Shaw; and her paternal grandfather, Arthur Piper.
Pam was a Denver Bronco Fan, she enjoyed gardening, reading and spending time with her family. She was planning next week to move to Utah to be with her daughter and to see her grandson for the first time.
A funeral ceremony will be 9:30 a.m., Thursday, December 24, 2015 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2401 SW Kingsrow Rd, Topeka, KS 66614. Interment will follow at the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka.
Pam will lie in state after 3 p.m., Wednesday at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m.
