Orville Flowers

Orville L. Flowers, Sr., 76, of Topeka, passed away, Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at his home.

Mr. Flowers was born February 28, 1929 in Topeka, Kansas the son of Arthur and Emma Flowers.

He was married to Bessie Ann (Ireland) Flowers September 10, 1949. She preceded him in death in 1997. He was also preceded in death by his brothers George and Alvin, his sisters, Margie Flowers, May Jewell and Margaret Flowers. Survivors include his children Orville L. Flowers, Jr; Iva Phillips; Rod Flowers; his brother, Roy Flowers; His sister, Hazel Roberts; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Mr. Flowers owned and operated Topeka Tree Service as tree surgeon until his retirement. Following retirement he enjoyed his grandchildren and his Iris gardens. He was an avid outdoorsman.

He was a military veteran serving in the US Army and US Navy. He was a member of North Topeka Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 26, 2005 at the Penwell Gabel Parker Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue. Burial will follow in Rochester Cemetery. Mr. Flowers will lie in state after 12:00 noon Friday at the funeral home where the family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Friday.
