here Opal M. Hart, 95, of Topeka passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2023. Opal was a lifelong resident of Topeka, she graduated from Highland Park High School in 1945. She married James W. Hart they lived in the Oakland community. Opal raised her family and lived in the same house for over 65 years. Opal was all about family. She was Cub Scout Leader for her boys. She was an avid seamstress, and loved to cook. Christmas time with all the family there was important to her. She had attended Oakland United Methodist Church. The Hart’s owned a RV. Opal and Jim loved to travel. They visited all the states and most of the National Parks. For years she enjoyed coffee with her neighbors and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, and a sister, Betty Crites.
Survivors include six children, Jim, Jr. and wife Joanna of Homosassa, Florida, Cheryl Shaughnessy and Shawn of Topeka, Jerry and Heddy of Athens, Georgia, Bill and Denise of Bentonville, AR, Becky Cushing and Scott of Auburn, KS, and George of Eustus, FL; 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Zart of Topeka and Rita Machaels and Wayne of Topeka.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at Davidson Funeral Home. Private family graveside services will follow. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 pm on Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka Ks 66606.
