Oran "Eddy" Gregg
Oran "Eddy" Gregg, 90, Topeka, died Friday, August 5, 2016, at St. Francis Hospital, Topeka. He was born January 13, 1926, at Topeka, the son of Oscar William and Ferol Faye (Calderwood) Gregg.
Eddy graduated from Seaman High School in 1944. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1946. He worked for International Harvester during High School and also when he returned from the Navy until 1955. He then worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber until he retired.
Eddy was a member of Golden Rule Lodge # 90, AF & AM; Arab Shriners; Arab Shriners Golf Unit; Arab Legion of Honor; Order of Quetzalcoatl Teocali No. 8; and Royal Order of Jesters, Topeka Court 125.
He was married to Dixie Jean Nixon on May 22, 1944, at Alma. She preceded him in death on June 9, 2006. He was also preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jack; son, Larry E. Gregg; and grandson, Timothy J. Gregg.
Survivors include a daughter: Glenda Massey and her husband, Herb; sister-in-law: Faye Nixon Green; daughter-in-law: Anna DeThomas; three grandchildren: Anita Massey Hockman (Kirk), Lisa Florez (Pantaleon), and Jim Massey (Cindy); twelve great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka, followed by Masonic Services conducted by Golden Rule Lodge # 90, AF & AM. A U.S. Navy Detail will conduct military honors at Prairie Home Cemetery, NW 35th & Menoken Road, Topeka.
Eddy will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Tuesday, at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM.
