Norman Ray Pullen, "Big Trees", Topeka, passed away Friday, July 29, 2011 at a Topeka Hospital with his family and friends at his side.
He was born on March 3, 1945 in Iowa, the first of eight children born to Ray G. and Shirley Smith Pullen. Ray grew up in Keithsburg, IL where he attended school.
Ray moved to Topeka in 1978, and has been the owner/operator of Big Trees Landscaping since that time.
Family and friends have been the center of Ray's life.
Ray is survived by; his wife Kathy of the home, children, Christopher (Brandy) Hill, and Crystal (Art) Hill; four grandchildren, Elizabeth, LeAnna, Trevor, and Kayden; brothers, Thomas (Mellany) Pullen, VA, Richard (Linda) Pullen, Derby, sisters; Sheila (Lane) Dillie, IL, and Karen (Loy) Mellenbruch, Holton. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Pullen was preceded in death by; his parents, sisters; Kathy Tharp, Candace Zimmerman, a brother, Randy Pullen, and 2 nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, Topeka, on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow at Burlingame Cemetery, Burlingame. Mr. Pullen will lie in repose after noon on Monday, August 1st with a family visitation from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Monday evening at the funeral home.
