Norma Jean Johnston, 89, of Topeka, KS, passed away on January 4, 2019.
She was born on June 4, 1929 in Council Grove, KS, the daughter of Ernest and Esther Jacobs.
Norma married Dale E. Johnston on June 18, 1948 in Council Grove, KS. They celebrated their 70th anniversary in June, 2018. Survivors include 5 children, Linda (Dan) Woodland, Michael "Mike" (Rayla) Johnston, Susan (Rick) Salyer, Kim Brown (Steve Emme), all of Topeka and Tami Brooks of Bonita Springs, FL; 10 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 5 step-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers (Kenneth and Dale Jacobs) and her sister June Vermillion.
She joined WestSide Christian Church in 1958 where she was very active. Norma was best known for her extraordinarily loving, giving heart and love for the Lord. Her love of cooking and baking was shared with many.
Her last employment was with administrative services at the State house while the legislature was in session. She worked in the document room for 19 years with the last several years as a supervisor.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Monday, January 14, 2019 at Parker-Price Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at WestSide Christian Church. Burial will follow at Milford Cemetery in Milford, KS.
