Norma Jean "Fritzi" Cochran
Norma Jean "Fritzi" Cochran, 88, Topeka, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Stormont-Vail Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 1, 1928, at Carroll, Iowa, the daughter of Otto Fredrick and Ella Rose (Thelen) Subbert.
She was raised in Lanesboro, Iowa and graduated from Jolley High School (Iowa). Fritzi moved to Topeka in 1947, and met Clyde at the Roll-Away Skating Rink. She was employed at Quinton Duffens Optical and Blue Cross / Blue Shield of Kansas. Fritzi was a member of Seaman Community Church and loved her church family.
She enjoyed Square Dancing with Clyde for twenty years, and was a softball Mom for 17 years while Clyde coached their daughters' teams. She was a beautiful and talented seamstress, and enjoyed crocheting and ceramics. For many years she volunteered at the Topeka Rescue Mission.
Fritzi was married to Clyde Cochran on December 23, 1948, in Topeka.
Surviving are her husband: Clyde Cochran of the home; three daughters: Carla Stallard (Scott) of Overland Park, Terri Fletcher (Kirk) of Fayette, Missouri, and Marcy Bartlett of Montgomery, Texas; a sister: Jo Richardson of Lake City, Iowa; three grandsons: Cody Fletcher (Ashley) of Goodletsville, Tennessee, Shane Fletcher (Derrian) of Fayette, Missouri, and Jordan Bartlett (Savannah) of Montgomery, Texas: and a great-grandson: Braylen Bartlett. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister: Dee Pribble; and a brother: Dwight Subbert.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at Seaman Community Church. Interment will be in Prairie Home Cemetery, NW 35th & Menoken Road, Topeka.
Fritzi will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Tuesday, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 PM.
