She was born December 24, 1941, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of George and Helen (Vance) Sherretts. She graduated from Meriden Rural High School.

Nola married her high school sweetheart, Jay Ellis, on May 22, 1960 in Topeka, Kansas.

Nola loved being a homemaker for many years while raising her girls until they were all in school. She was very active in their school PTA and sport activities, never missing a game. Once her three girls were in school, she went to work and was employed by USD 501 in food service for 26 years, retiring in 2005.

She loved her family dearly. Nola and Jay would spend time traveling to watch the grandchildren play sports or to their school activities. Her and Jay enjoyed going to Knoxville to watch the sprint car races yearly. She was an avid Ku Basketball fan and would plan her days around their season games. She was so full of energy and would never sit down. Nola will be remembered for her ever present smile.

She is survived by her husband, Jay; three daughters, Janelle (Robert) Miller, Julie (Brad) McGivern and Jennie (Daniel) Crosland; grandchildren, Lindsey (John) Noll, Breyana Miller, Camille Miller, Jackson McGivern, Preslie McGivern, Kinley Crosland and Karsyn Crosland.
