Neysa Blair

February 1, 1936 — June 2, 2024

Neysa Ann Dean Blair, age 88, completed her life’s journey on June 2, 2024, in Topeka, Kansas after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Neysa was born to Lyle E. Dean and Helen Rose (Norton) Dean on February 1, 1936, in Moore Haven, Florida. She later moved to and was raised in Chanute, Kansas, before attending Neosho County Junior College and later Baker University to earn her education.
Afterward, Neysa married Floyd Torneden, with whom she birthed three children; Fred, Jon and Lee Torneden. She later remarried to William E. “Bill” Blair, with whom she birthed two children, Lisa (Bohmeyer) and Judson Blair. Neysa lived with Bill in Meriden, Kansas until his death on November 17, 1997. She later lived with partner Larry Roberts, also in Meriden, until his death on January 21, 2022.
Neysa lived as a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, knitting, sewing, cross-stitching and baking. In earlier years, she enjoyed other outdoor activities such as camping and fishing. Neysa was adored by many, both related and unrelated. She was a caring woman who ensured all close family and friends felt loved, never missing a greeting for a birthday or holiday. She was also known to all in her life as a crafty and handy woman, capable of using both knitting needles and power tools at her leisure.
Neysa is survived by her sister, Donna (Leroy) Anderson of Osage City; her four children, Fred (Deb) Torneden of Manhattan, Kansas; Lee Torneden of Baldwin, Kansas; Lisa (Buz) Bohmeyer of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Judson (Marcia) Blair of Topeka, Kansas; and multiple nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Helen; her siblings, Bill Dean and Helen Rose Dean; her husband, Bill; her partner, Larry; and her son, Jon.
Neysa’s memorial service will be held on July 13, 2024, at 10:30 AM at Parker-Price & Davidson Funeral Home, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS 66608. Graveside service will be held afterward at Meriden Cemetery, Condray St, Meriden, KS 66512. The family would be honored for anyone to attend to celebrate Neysa’s memory
