Naomi L. Terry, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in Topeka, Kansas, on November 24, 2024, at the age of 67. Born on January 15, 1957, in Topeka, Naomi was a lifelong resident of the city she cherished.
A proud graduate of Topeka High School, Naomi embarked on a career that spanned several notable establishments, including Frito-Lay, Scotch & Hygienic Cleaners, Hardee's, and Walmart. Her dedication and hard work left a mark on those who had the pleasure of working alongside her.
Naomi was known for her vibrant personality, deeply rooted in her love for the color yellow, a hue that matched her warm spirit. Yellow roses were her favorite, symbolizing the joy and positivity she spread to those around her. She found pleasure in the simple comforts of life, often indulging in her favorite pastime of playing solitaire and enjoying her beloved television shows, such as M.A.S.H. and The Waltons.
Her grandchildren were the centerpiece of her life, representing an irreplaceable joy and a profound source of pride. Naomi was devoted to her family, and her love for them was evident in every interaction. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will be held close by her loved ones.
Naomi is survived by her children: Daughter Barbara Rissen (Brendan), Son Steven Dishner, and Daughter Ana Wherrell (Wes). Her memory will also be honored by her sister, Julie Nolting, and her grandchildren: Savannah Wherrell, Kali Wherrell, Camron Wherrell, Johnathan Ozenbaugh, Noah Rissen, Damien Griffin, Stewart Griffin, and Sean Griffin. She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews and her ex-husband, Dale Griffin Sr. To this union were their two children, Steven and Ana.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Terry, whom she married on May 28, 1982, and who passed away on July 3, 2008. Naomi will also be reunited with her infant daughter, Baby Terry, and her parents: Juanita (June) Nolting and Charles (Evelyn) Dishner, as well as her sister, Rocetta Garber.
Naomi L. Terry's spirit lives on through the love she shared and the lives she touched. Her family and friends will forever remember her warmth, kindness, and the light she brought into their lives.
Graveside services will be at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, November 29, 2024 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Topeka.
