Myrtle Lucas, 95, of Topeka, passed away Monday, June 24, 2013 at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born March 4, 1918 in Reserve, KS, the daughter of Louis and Julia (Rhodd) DuPuis.
Mrs. Lucas was a member of the North Topeka Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Myrtle married Charles Lucas, Jr. on September 21, 1945 in Ft. Meyers, FL. He preceded her in death on June 12, 1997. Survivors include six children, Louis Kiefer of Kansas City, KS, Verlene Kiefer Wilson of Washington, Sherry Alt, Lana (Bob) Lucas Best, Charlee (Jim) House, and Charmaine Lucas all of Topeka; 12 grandchildren, Colette (Greg) Kiefer-Barton, Coleen (Richard) Kiefer-Castillo, Chris Kiefer, Cynthie Kiefer, Cynthia Wilson, Randy Wilson, Kimberly (Cliff) VanVleck, Kevin (Vickie) Alt, Bobbi (Chris) Lewis, Gregg (Lisa) Best, Bic Best, and Charles (Trisha) Clifton; 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, her mother, Julia Warner, a brother, Lyndrith DuPuis and two sisters, Viola Osborn and Louise Sapp.
A funeral ceremony will be 1 p.m., Friday, June 28, 2013 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS 66608. Interment will follow at the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
