Myrtle Stewart Beem, 94, Lee's Summit, MO, passed away Friday, November 11, 2022 at John Knox Village.
She was born in Clarinda, Iowa to S. Elwood Stewart and Fern Maribelle Tippin. After losing her mother at age 6, the family moved to a farm in Meriden, KS in 1934. She attended a one-room school for the first 6 grades. She graduated from Meriden High School in 1946. She was the oldest of 4 siblings.
She married Roy W. (Bill) Beem on June 11, 1947. She is survived by 3 daughters; Fern Truschke Stuart (Mike) of Independence, MO, Freda Blizzard (Bruce Summers) of Houston, TX, and Faye Genova of Overland Park, KS. Also surviving is her sister-in-law Betty Beem Cline of Shawnee Mission KS, Jody Stewart of Deming, NM, 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death was her husband of 59 years, Bill Beem, sisters Mildred Murdock Crocker of Girard, KS, Mary Martin of Albuquerque, NM, brother Clyde Stewart of Deming, NM, and grandson William (Billy) Truschke.
She was a member of the Lee's Summit Christian Church and a Girl Scout leader for all 3 daughters.
She hunted, fished, and traveled with her husband. She was an avid outdoors person and loved her flowers. She retired from Jostens Publishing & Printing Co in Topeka, KS.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at the Parker-Price Funeral Home, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka, KS. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Meriden Cemetery.
