OBITUARY: Mrs. Myra Esther Crippen
Mrs. Myra Esther Crippen, 94, Topeka, died Fri., Sept. 2, 2005 at her home. She was born Oct. 7, 1910 at Abilene the daughter of W.H. and Lillian M. (Plumb) Losey.
She was graduated from Washburn University where she met her future husband while being his aid in the history department. She was an elementary school teacher. After her husband became a minister in the Congregational Church they served churches in Carbondale, Wakarusa, Seneca, and Towanda. She was a long-time member of Seaman Congregational Un. Church of Christ where she was active in the women's and youth groups. Mrs. Crippen was a poet and artist and as a volunteer had taught English as a second language.
On June 16, 1940 she was married to G. Waldo Crippen. He preceded her in death on Dec. 29, 1983.
Surviving are two nieces: Marlene Stirtz of Topeka and Marilyn Stirtz Jost of Newton.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m., Sat., Sept. 10, 2005 at Seaman Congregational U.C.C. with interment in Rochester Cemetery.
Mrs. Crippen will lie in state after 3:00 p.m., Friday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 N.W. Independence.
