Mildred E. Woolaway

Mildred Elizabeth Woolaway, 89, of Topeka, passed away on January 21, 2023 at Olathe Health Hospice House.
She was born on June 24, 1933 in Gage County, Nebraska. Parents, Ollie E. (Hamby) Garman and Gerald Garman.
Mildred moved to Holton, Kansas in 1950 and graduated from Holton High School in 1951. After graduation she started nursing school at Stormont Vail School of Nursing and graduated in 1954. Mildred worked as a registered nurse for Stormont-Vail Hospital, Brewster Place, Kapiolani Maternity Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii. She retired in 1995 from Dr. Robert Jacoby and Dr. Steve Saylor's Office in Topeka.
On December 24, 1954, she married Glenn H. Woolaway. Glenn preceded her in death in 2011.
Mildred and her husband were members of Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene for over 30 years.
She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, doing puzzles, all types of gardening. She was known for her canning and her amazing tomatoes and apple butter. Mildred also was very involved in volunteering with church dinners, and mission trips with Glenn. She and Glenn were snowbirds, living in Texas through the winter months. She was very proud of being a grandmother and spending time with all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mildred is survived by her 3 sons, Robert (Cathy) Woolaway, Steven (Kristine) Woolaway, and Allen (Nicol) Woolaway; 1 daughter, Sheryl (Robert) Garrett; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and 1 sister, LaVerna (Jerry) Lane.
She was preceded in death by her Father, James G. Garman, Mother, Ollie Garman, Husband, Glenn Harold Woolaway, She was also preceded in death by 4 brothers, Lawrence, Donald, David, and Francis Garman and 1 sister, Helen Bohac.
Family will greet friends on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene. Funeral service will follow starting at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene or to the Olathe Health Hospice House, 15310 S. Marion St. Olathe, KS 66061.
