OBITUARY: Mildred Blanche Takemire
Mildred Blanche Takemire, 91, made her final journey from this earth to her heavenly home on Sun., June 8, 2008. She was devoted to her church, First United Methodist Church of Topeka, and its activities for most of her adult life. Her professional career was spent as a stenographer. The longest time, 26 years, was for the Santa Fe Railroad. She had much pleasure in caring for her flowers, especially the peonies her grandmother planted. She faithfully cared for her mother and grandmother until their deaths. She always had an alert mind and knew Topeka like the back of her hand. Although in her nineties she insisted on bossing her older brother, Wilbur, when she thought he needed it. Their weekly correspondence was maintained for at least 60 years. She is survived by her brother, Wilbur, and his wife, Anna Lee, of Oklahoma; and her dear, precious friend of many years, Juanita Greenquist. Also numerous cousins and many friends. She took special pleasure in traveling with groups to places of interest in America. Her hearing disability has now been overcome and she is enjoying God's heavenly choir. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Fri., June 13, 2008, in Klasse Chapel of First United Methodist Church, 600 SW Topeka Blvd. Interment in Prairie Home Cemetery. Mildred will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Thurs., at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence.
