Mildred M. Richter, age 93, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, January 1, 2022 at the Presbyterian Manor. Mildred was born September 29, 1928 in the Avon Township near Aliceville, KS the daughter of Mark and Cleo (Tichenor) Irwin. Mildred graduated from Topeka High School. She married Joe Richter September 24, 1950. He preceded her in death March 23, 2013. Mildred had worked various secretarial jobs in Topeka, but her favorite job was being a mom and grandma. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church where she was active with the United Methodist Women group. Mildred and Joe enjoyed traveling throughout their lives, seeing most of the United States and also made a couple trips to Europe.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Irwin; a sister, Jean Ewing and a grandson, Corey Joe Richter. She is survived by two sons, Dennis (Jan) Richter and Steve Richter, both of Topeka; four grandchildren, Kelly (Damion), Matt (Beth), Melissa (Nolan) and Dan; and four great grandchildren, Chloe, Brynlee, Corbin and Bennett, along with various nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be Friday, January 7, 2022 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. A private graveside will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church and sent in care of the Davidson Funeral Home. davidsonfuneral.com
