OBITUARY: Mrs. Mildred D. Meggison



Mrs. Mildred Darline Meggison, 88, Topeka, died Wed., Oct. 3, 2007, at St. Francis Hospital. She was born Sept. 10, 1919 at St. Joseph, MO, the daughter of Earl S. and Bessie (Phillips) Jones. She had lived at Hoyt most of her life, before moving to Topeka in 1990.

Mildred had attended the Oakland Nazarene Church. She had been a cook at the Shawnee County Poor Farm and St. Francis Hospital.

She was married to Harold James Meggison, Sr. on Feb. 18, 1937, at Troy. He preceded her in death on May 7, 1990. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Donna Sue, in 1952, and a son, Earl "David" in 1959.

Surviving are her six children: Carole Flynn of Topeka, Harold J. Meggison, Jr. of Topeka, Marilyn Armstrong of Silver Lake, Barbara J. Wyatt of Bakersfield, CA, Larry L. Meggison of Topeka, and Randy S. Meggison of Topeka; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Monday, Oct. 8, 2007, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, Topeka. Interment in Topeka Cemetery. Mildred will lie in state after 1:00 PM, Sunday, at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 PM.
