Mildred Mae Miller
Mildred Mae Miller, 94, Topeka, died Friday, June 6, 2003, at Midland Hospice House. Mrs. Miller worked for Western Stationary from 1943 to 1946 and American News Company from1946 to 1956. She and her husband farmed in the Courtland area until 1961. She was born Sept. 20, 1908, in Mayetta, the daughter of William E. and Clarrisa Jane Ray Haag. She had lived in Topeka since 1936. Mrs. Miller was a member of Northland Christian Church. She married Claude Stewart on Oct. 5, 1935. He was killed in World War II on March 4, 1944. She later married William E. "Bill" Miller on June 3, 1951, in Mayetta. He died Nov. 22, 1985. Survivors include two stepsons, Gene Kelly, Courtland, and Ross Kelly, Glasco; six stepgrandchildren: 23 stepgreat-grandchildren: 16 stepgreat-great-grandchildren: and a host of nieces and nephews. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Parker-Price Mortuary. Burial will be in Topeka Cemetery. Mrs. Miller will lie in state at the mortuary after 1 p.m. Tuesday, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice House, 200 S.W.
