Micky Lew Grubb, 44, of Topeka, passed away Monday, October 2, 2006 at his home after a brief illness.
He was born October 17, 1961 in Topeka, the son of Melvin and Connie Kay Chilcoat Grubb.
He was a 1979 graduate of Jefferson West High School. He enlisted in the Navy in 1979, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer after 22 years of honorable service. He participated in the liberation of Kuwait and was involved in numerous naval operations throughout the world. Chief Petty Officer Grubb's exceptional professionalism and selfless devotion to duty reflected credit upon himself and were in keeping with the highest traditions of United States Naval Service. He was a member of Northland Chrisitian Church.
He married Lynn Heinen in 1985. They later divorced. He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin on August 16, 1996, and by his grandfather, Wilbur Grubb.
Survivors include two daughters, Ashley and Katelyn Grubb, Ozawkie; his fiance, Debbi Nurnberg; his mother, Connie Grubb, Topeka; two sisters, Kristi, Lawrence and Angela, Topeka; a brother, Ron, Topeka; grandparents, Marvin and Fern Chilcoat, Topeka and Norma Grubb of Dover; several nieces and nephews and a great niece and nephew.
Micky will lie in state after 12:00 pm, Thursday, October 5, 2006 at Penwell-Gabel Parker Price Chapel, 245 NW. Independence. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, October 6 at he funeral home with burial to follow in the Ozawkie Cemetery.
