Michael Zimmerman, Jr,

Michael John Zimmerman, Jr. 83, of Topeka, passed away Monday, October 6, 2008.
He was born September 29, 1925 in Quinter, Kansas, the son of Michael John and Clara (Schuster) Zimmerman, Sr. He served in the United States Army during WW II.
He was employed by Victory Sand, later May Ransom & Sheets in Topeka.
Mike married Ida M. Wittman on October 25, 1948 in Park, KS. She survives. Other survivors include his children, Larry Zimmerman, Yvonne Halbett, Anita Talley, Katrina Kosmala, Robert Zimmerman, and Michelle Lindensmith, all of Topeka; his brother, Robert Zimmerman of Las Vegas, NV; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a brother.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Friday, October 10, 2008 at St. Joseph's Church, 227 SW Van Buren, Topeka. Interment will follow at Mt.CalvaryCemetery, Topeka. Mr. Zimmerman will lie in state after 3 p.m., Thursday at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, where a Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. The family will receive friends following the rosary.
