Michael W. Franklin

Michael “Mike” W. Franklin, age 69, of Topeka, KS passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at the Topeka V.A. Hospital. Mike was born October 11, 1952 in Tuscaloosa, AL, the son of Carl and Runette (Dewberry) Franklin. He married Vickie Fox, they later divorced. He married Dena Cox, she preceded him in death February 5, 2009. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1971 – 1975. He then served in the U.S. Army from 1976 until he retired in 1994 from Ft. Bliss, Texas. He drove an over-the-road truck for several years and then became a special education teacher. He loved fishing, going to the casino and riding his Harley Davidson. Michael was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Franklin, Jr. and William Franklin. He is survived by two daughters, Angela Lynn-Bowden (Sean) of Hoyt and Amy Lutz of Topeka; a brother, Larry Franklin of Pascagoula, MS; a sister, Patsy Hutchins of Mobile, AL; seven grandchildren, Daniel (Hillari), Dustin, Blake (Amber), Shianne (Tanner), Sierrah (Bobby), Lindsey (Jacob) and Blaine and six great grandchildren. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 2, 2022 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home.
